Modeling career for Joe?

Man!  Time has just flown by me!

Three years ago I was in Phoenix, Arizona a few days after the birth of my twin granddaughters.  Thursday of this week they will be three.

To celebrate this great big event in their life I drug Joe with me to Tuesday Morning and the Dollar Tree to outfit my two princesses properly.  Their aunt, Heidi Jo, has already blessed the girls with jewelry befitting any young lady that wants to play dress up.

Michelle Birdsong, unknowingly, participated in the girls gift as well.  Michelle, from Wilmington, North Carolina sent me a whole bunch of wonderful stuff several months ago.  Among the bounty were some handmade fabric flowers.  Sorry, the photos are really bad!

While at Tuesday Morning with Joe, he protested loudly and vigorously when I selected two different dresses.  It is Joe’s strong opinion that the dresses need to be EXACTLY the same.  Personally, I think it is best to be different.  Maybe the sameness will cut down on any altercations in which dress is who’s.

Each girl gets a pair of heels to go with her special dress.  Of course, a Princess must have a different crown for special events.

The crowns Joe models have a “Wand” attached.  Let’s just hope that the wands get used for loving and kind purposes and not evil doing.  One can always hope anyway.

Happy Birthday my precious Ruth and Pearl.

On a side note, I am beginning to get my strength and energy back.  I am working at getting my craft room sorted so I can resume tutorials for my YouTube channel.  The past month I have been getting my house in order.

June 27th will be one year since I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer.  I have SURVIVED the chemotherapy and the radiation therapy.  My house has not.  So in order to get my mind and body back to better health I had to alleviate my biggest stress.  Thoroughly clean my house room by room.  It has taken well over a month….which required daily naps of three or more hours to accomplish.  Along with several trips to the Goodwill.

I have several more doctor visits in the coming weeks.  Joe will be home with me so I can harass him into being oddly featured in my blog posts and upcoming YouTube videos.  Isn’t he just so very lucky?  😀

If it has been five minutes…chances are I’ve forgotten already.

The organizational nightmare of my “STUDIO” is completed.  *falls down on the floor dramatically*

Now it is time to get busy and create something beautiful and fun.

One of my grand daughters is having a birthday in February.  It is high time I remember her special day.  It has been quite a number of years since I last did so and she has just about gone and got herself all grown up :/  I have seen her several times when we would get through Colorado during my truck driving days.  I just never had the time to make her a personalized gift.  No one in my family got anything from me!

While I was out mailing my youngest daughter’s birthday present, the altered cans, I was just a few shop doors down from a local scrapbook store I had not been in for quite a few years.  Time to drop in and see what they have.

Mind you…I don’t have a plan in mind for my granddaughter’s present.  I just figured that “something would come to me”.  After about an hour of perusing the crafting goodies I made my choices and left the store.

It struck me, only after I had put my seat belt on in my car, that I didn’t have any recent photos of my granddaughter :/  So….of course what every good grandmother does.  Go to her Facebook page and “acquire” photos then get them printed at the drug store.  Never mind the disclaimer on the kiosk about having permission to copy the photos.  I’ll just say “Yes” to the question of my validity and ownership of the photos.

I mean, seriously, they will wind up back in her possession come her birthday anyway so what harm am I doing?

One of my purchases was this really cute sheet of stickers made by Momenta.  I’m telling you right now.  I am totally psychotic…..I mean “psychic”.

Sorting through the photos I “acquired”…. I felt it was necessary for me to take photos of the shots I had chosen to go along with the appropriate sticker.  I’ve changed my mind a couple times on some of them.  So what else is new.

I’m going to show you my process and maybe this will help you (or someone new to paper crafting) how to make use of a sticker sheet for your layouts or mini albums.  This mini album is specifically for my granddaughter and will have her personal photos in it.  She will need to do the journaling when I am finished and I will supply her with plenty of places to do just that.

Okay, on to the selection process.

This photo is one of my favorite.  My grandkids and their Dad together.  I love this family and am blessed to have them in my life.

BUT ….. I changed my mind on this.  I want a different one to be the outside cover of her mini album.  So I chose this one to best go with this saying.

Moving right along now.  I don’t know what order these are going to go in the mini album.  I just know these will be the tags for the photos.

My granddaughter is turning into a very beautiful young woman.

Yes, I’m old and I’m square.  I have no idea what “Boy Band” this is.  I just know they are NOT “The Backstreet Boys” nor are they “INSYNC” (I can’t remember if that is how it was spelled :/).

There was a back and forth struggle over the next two photos.  So they will be under the same tag.

I don’t know what this function was all about.  All the kids were dressed up in their very best and look fabulous.  There is another photo that goes along with this one.  The other photo is of all of them being good and smiling for the camera.  This one is hilarious with them all making funny faces.

This one made me laugh and I thought the tag would be appropriate 😀

This photo had some “sparkly effects” so I chose this tag for it.

Indeed, this one will work 😀

And then there is another favorite in here.

My granddaughter was with a group of girls doing something with a Thor type hammer.  I don’t know what it is they are up to.  But I think chocolate might have had something to do with it.

The rest of the stickers will be used throughout the mini album.  I’ll have more on my paper choices and how I’m putting the book together as I get this thing started.

Stay tuned to see how this is going to come together 😀  I hope this has been a useful tip for you when selecting stickers or tags to go with your photos.

Neutral gender birthday card.

Neutral gender birthday card

I was able to get two cards out of the papers I used yesterday.  This is the Operation Write Home sketch #53 from April of 2011.  The sketches are on their site for anyone to use at anytime and for anyone – not just for the military.

  • Papers – Club Scrap and Stampin’ Up!
  • Border Punch – Stampin’ Up!
  • Ribbon – American Crafts
  • Sentiment – Club Scrap

I don’t fancy myself a card maker so any help I can get for layout and proportions I take full advantage of.   How long does it take you to make a card?  Me, it seems to take forever with all the fussing I do in getting things aligned and straight, although I don’t manage to do that well sometimes.

Tomorrow is Christmas Day.  Yippy Skippy!  I hope you all are enjoying the holiday so far.
