Got Scraps?

This stamping stuff is a challenge.  Smears, stamped image crooked, darker on one side and not much of an image in the center.  What to do with the stamp set after I have it home.  I tend to have a bit of “buyer’s remorse” after the set arrives.  So I’ve challenged myself to get with the program and stop whining!

I have a lot of old and discontinued Stampin’ Up! paper that I can’t use in any workshop or in my Clubs.  I absolutely HATE to waste paper.  What do the other Demo’s do with all their old papers?  I’ve got a stamp set with sentiments for nearly every occasion one could think of and I’ve only  used a couple of them.  Time to get that set out and get to work.

Word Play Stamp Set

Word Play Stamp Set

This is the Word Play stamp set and it comes in a set of two.  You can order this stamp set from my Stampin’ Up! Website.  The images can be used in scrapbook layouts, cards, gift items, and what ever else you can dream up.

I’ve created 3″x3″ cards with Whisper White and using my old out dated papers I’ve turned them into envelopes for these cards.  Some of the envelopes gave me fits but they all turned out pretty good.

Paper for envelope is 5-1/4″ x 5-1/4″.  Whisper White papers are 3″ x 6″ for the card base and 2-1/2″ x 2-1/2″ for the sentiment piece.  The patterned paper that matches the envelope is 2-3/4″ x 2-3/4″.

Love the cards you have made. Those papers and word stamps are lovely. What a shame that StampinUp has this nasty habit of retiring products, papers don’t go out of date!
This set of word stamps would be so useful for lots of projects.
    Love and hugs

I know, it makes me crazy that they discontinue items. Although, some of the papers that have been discontinued (shhhhh) probably should not have seen the light of day. Guess everyone has their own likes and dislikes. You know, there are papers at the local craft/hobby stores that I feel the same way about…..”What the heck were they thinkin’?” I’m so glad that I’m not in charge of deciding what paper gets picked to be featured.

Thank you Lynn for your sweet words on my card making, I appreciate them. Makes me want to go and do battle a bit more. Tomorrow maybe, I’m a bit scatter brained right now from wracking my brain for the February features. What have I gotten myself into?!

Wow, you sure have made a lot of cards using very little paper! I was thinking “what could I possibly do with tiny 3 inch cards?” since you can’t mail them, and I actually thought of several things. Slip them into a friend’s purse when they’re not looking, leave them at the doctor’s office when you visit (mom (and I, her driver!) have been seeing a ton of doctors and physical therapists lateley), slip one into the collection basket at church (the folks who count the money might appreciate being appreciated – i’v done that job, and believe me, it’s without thanks!), leave your tip in it for your waitress, drop some off at an assisted living facility or nursing home for the staff to give out to their residents (kind of like how teachers sometimes give out notes to kids, thanking them for some random act of kindness, such as going out of their way to be kind to someone or helping out a teacher or staff member when they didn’t have to0. OK, sounds like a school could use them too. Sounds great doesn’t it? After the first week of Feb, when things settle down a bit, perhaps I’ll get crackin’ and spread the love down here……

      AWESOME ideas!! Thanks Maureen.

How is your Mom doing? Last I talked with you she was having trouble with her ankle during the fall that broke or cracked a couple of her ribs. Is she getting more mobility out of the foot and ankle? I’m assuming that is what the physical therapy is for. Since you live closer to your Mom than your Sisters do I suppose you get to do the bulk of the “Transport Business” 😉

I’m looking forward to seeing your next blog post with stuff you will be making after things settle down in your world :o) Love your blog page by the way.
      Love you – Leslie
